Support Boy's Fight Against Brain Cancer
Donation protected
Posting on behalf of my mother-in-law, Cynthia Bautista.
On his birthday, my husband, Roberto “Boy” Bautista, was admitted to the hospital after unexpectedly losing his balance and falling down. Upon further testing, the doctors discovered that a malignant tumor was growing within the center of his brain, putting pressure on both sides, impairing his ability to walk. The doctors diagnosed him with Grade 3 Anaplastic Ependymoma – an aggressive form of brain cancer.
We were hoping that the tumor could be removed surgically. However, after careful consideration, the doctors decided that an attempt to do so would be too risky and could damage his brain permanently. At this point, the only viable treatment for my husband would be radiation to decrease the size of the tumor.
Unfortunately, his medical insurance falls well short of covering the cost for this initial treatment and rehabilitation. With the radiation and rehab, we have a fighting chance to extend his life and regain his ability to walk.
With all my heart, I love Boy. I can honestly say his children, his sisters, his extended family, and all his friends do too. He walks in a room, healthy laughter comes next, never consumed by the worries of the world. It’s infectious, everyone feels better when he’s around. He's approachable to anyone he comes across with. He is a loving husband and a dedicated father. It's tough for me to imagine life without him.
As much as we want to overcome this challenge on our own, we realize that Boy has a better chance with more of us in this long battle. With sincere and genuine humility, I’m asking for all your help today.
We’re looking for help with the cost of his radiation and other costs of this ongoing battle, but your prayers, your thoughts, and words of encouragement, all are just as valuable, if not more.
Thank you all in advance for your generous support. We promise to update all of you on his progress. Boy doesn’t quit, he never has. We won’t either, for him.
