On Saturday October 21st @ 3:28pm, our family was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident. We were t-boned by a truck pulling a horse trailer with a horse in it. There were 5 of us in the vehicle, Jeff, myself (Kellie), Blake, Taylor and my mom (Kathy). Four of us were transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Jeff and myself were both checked and released. We are sore with several bruises, but will be OK.
Blake was intubated and placed under sedation right away. They found that he has a brain bleed around the optical nerve area, concussion and broken tibia & fibula of the left leg.
My mother, Kathy, had emergency surgery to repair a hole in her diaphragm, repair her pancreas and remove her spleen. She also has a broken pelvis & hip on both sides, 8 broken ribs and a broken clavicle on the left side.
Blake was released on 10/24 but has a long recovery ahead and many follow up appointments for PT, OT, Speech therapy, Brain trauma rehab and others at Seattle Children's.
My mom is still in the ICU and has an even longer road to recovery. They said she may be in a wheel chair for 4-6 months and will need follow appointments with other specialty doctors as well once she is released.
The money raised will go towards parking fees from the hospital, gas, medical bills and to help cover the time off we are having to take to care for both of them.
Our family truly appreciates all of the help we have already received and will continue to receive during this difficult time! We will continue to keep everyone updated. Thank you!
