Support Black Student Midwife Yanna Through School

Donation protected
I'm Yanna and I am studying to be a Certified Professional Midwife at CommonSense Childbirth School of Midwifery. CommonSense is the first Black-owned and MEAC accredited school, owned by the great elder midwife, Jennie Joseph.  I have been a Full Spectrum Doula and Certified Lactation Counselor since 2019. I am a Childbirth Educator and a Birth Assistant. I am also the Founder of the Black Christian BirthWorkers Network.
I am looking to become a midwife to serve my community and change how we see birth. I want to be able to educate my community to and through parenthood. Black women are 3-5x more likely to die during or after childbirth than white women.  One of the many ways we can combat this, is by giving low-risk mothers more options to birth. As a CPM, I will be serving families who choose to birth at home. I hope to eventually be able to open a birth center so that more options are available, especially for those who do not have space or feel comfortable at their home.  This way I can assist homebirths and birth center births, as well as providing job opportunities for other birth workers.

The money that you are donating will allow me to pay for my tuition and books at CCSM. The Black community truly needs more Black midwives! I appreciate your support in helping me make this happen. It's not about me, it's about our mothers and their families.
