Support Birdworld during Covid-19 Pandemic

OK, so big news broke last night at 22:30pm, and assuming no change of heart from BJ in this afternoons briefing, we plan to reopen next Monday, 15th June.
It will be different; no feeding of the birds, no discovery theatre, no animal encounters, no aquarium etc. etc. We will not be able to offer any of our special encounters just yet due to social distancing rules but will role these out as soon as it is safe to do so. But, we will welcome visitors to site, with pre-booked tickets only so that we can control numbers, giving a special opportunity to enjoy the park and animals whilst maintaining safe social distancing. Monday will be reserved for members only, who will still need to book online, with a maximum 300 visitors allowed!
All being well, we will be able to offer online ticket sales soon after the PM's daily update this afternoon, but if not today early tomorrow.
This is great news and something we have all bee waiting for, but we will be limiting visitor numbers and so will still be falling further behind our income needs to get us thorough next winter, so please do not give up on the fantastic support you have all provided!

The global COVID-19 pandemic has created a very uncertain landscape for millions of British businesses, including Zoos around the world. Birdworld has had to close its doors to visitors meaning that we now have no income to support the upkeep of our animals or for ongoing support of threatened species in the wild through our conservation fund.
This leaves us in a perilous position with significant costs for the day to day care of our animals, and our dedicated animal care team. We are doing all we can to ensure the long-term survival of Birdworld in these difficult times and will ensure the welfare of our animals is top priority.
To do this we need your help with funding for food, heating and veterinary care and to help with the upkeep of our amazing animals.
Our monthly costs for this basic animal care are in the region of 10 thousand pounds to cover the food, housing and medical care. Funds raised will help us to cover these costs whilst we are closed and allow us as an organisation to continue to work with our partners in conservation
Birdworld has been a popular visitor attraction on the Surrey /Hampshire border for over 50 years, providing education and recreation for several generations of visitors. Birdworld also provides financial and technical support for several conservation projects for species threatened in the wild. Through our living collections we support many breeding programs for species such as the Socorro Dove which is extinct in the wild and would not exist without the collaborative efforts of zoos. Other species we support include African and Humboldt penguins both of which are declining rapidly in the wild, and we have supported rescue efforts for the Lesser Flamingo during a time of acute crisis. More locally we supported the reintroduction of the Great Bustard into the Wiltshire countryside and are involved with plans to support the threatened European Turtle Dove.
