Rhythm of the Rein has a 13-year old Quarter Horse Draft Cross gelding named Big Red who they acquired to join their team of incredible therapy horses - and he has quickly captured all of our hearts. As soon as he arrived from Kentucky, two things became evident: 1) That he is the sweetest boy ever, a true gentleman who will be an amazing addition to the program; and 2) The program actually rescued him - it was clear that he had not been well taken care of in his former home.

Since then, he has had a string of health challenges, all of which he has overcome. But now he faces his biggest hurdle of all. He has been diagnosed with Equine Protozoal Myeloencephalitis. EPM is caused by a parasite in the feces of opossums (which he must have picked up in Kentucky), and causes irreversible neurological disease. Without treatment it is most likely fatal.

Treatment and recovery are possible, but expensive. We are asking for your donation to help fund this critical treatment, without which ROTR will most likely lose this gentle being.

Let's come together to save this sweet horse who, with your donation, can go on to provide many years of love and support for those who need him the most.
