But, all species of big cats - tigers, lions, cheetahs, leopards (including snow and clouded leopards) jaguars and pumas are threatened by an persistent desire for their body parts, including their skins, teeth and bones) as well as by the illegal trade for the pet trade. Much of this trade occurs illegally, driven by poaching of big cats in the wild and organised transnational smuggling networks.

CatByte has grown into a global community spanning 30 countries, comprising more than 85 members from 35 organisations. Our work has featured in Mongabay articles and we have produced analytical reports to support stronger decision-making at the CITES CoP20, focusing on the trade and trafficking of Asian big cats and jaguars.
