Because of this, we now need to raise an additional $9,000 to cover legal fees for an appeal ahead of his court date this Thursday.

<div>Hello, my name is Belkis, and today I come to you with a broken heart to ask for your support and solidarity at a very difficult time for my family.

<div>Unfortunately, on Tuesday, January 6, ICE agents took my son away, even though he has legal status. My son was simply filling up his car with gas in Saint Paul when he was detained by agents. I never imagined that something like this could happen to him, or that our family would experience such a great injustice.

<div>Since that day, my life has changed completely. My heart is broken, I miss my son deeply, and I live in constant fear for his well-being. As a mother, there is no greater pain than being separated from your child without knowing what tomorrow will bring.
