<div>I (Becca, or "Becks" on Substack) was diagnosed with Metastatic Breast Cancer in March 2024. Thankfully, Jason has very good medical insurance, so we don't need help with medical bills, and we have stable housing and food. We really hesitated to start this Go Fund Me because we realize that times are really hard for so many right now, but we have been approached many times by people who would like to help. I have been doing a lot of writing on Substack, and people on there have wanted me to add the paid subscription feature so they can contribute, but I was leery about doing that for several reasons. (I will list the link to my post about that in the updates sometime soon.) Instead of monetizing my Substack, I decided to create this Go Fund Me. It gives a safe and centralized place where you can donate if you so choose.

<div>The funds we receive here will go toward the following:

<div>- A new bed. My cancer treatment has caused severe joint pain, and the bed we currently have is miserable to sleep in. I am in so much pain that I wake up every hour or so. We have tried at least five different kinds of mattress toppers to no avail, and I am exhausted.
</div>
<div>- Travel expenses. I get my medical care in Portland, 140 miles from home. I can't drive anymore due to side effects from meds, so I either have to have someone drive me or I take the plane. We try to use our credit card miles whenever possible for that, but we also have the cost of housing. Providence offers guest housing, but it still costs $65 a night for me to stay there.

<div>- A new laptop. We have one laptop that we share. The screen is cracked (see pic below) and getting worse and worse. I use the laptop for virtual medical appointments and many other things.
