Hello,
My name is Kristen. In April my sweet Maltipoo pup named Bear, was brutally attacked just outside my house by a vicious dog, who was across the street and going for a walk with a very young girl, who had this attack dog precariously on a loose rope. This dog saw Bear and lunged toward him quickly, dragging the girl across the road with him. My adult daughter who was heading to the park with our dog, picked Bear up as fast as she could, but this big dog was determined, and jumped and grabbed Bear in his jaws.
My daughter saved Bear's life by risking her own, and literally fought this dog until he released Bear from his jaws. We rushed our dog to an emergency pet hospital almost two hours away, and needless to say, Bear suffered a broken Jaw, among other injuries. The owner of this vicious attack dog has fled, will not answer calls, and has not been seen since, and while they offered a little financial assistance in the beginning, they are unreachable now.
Bear has suffered an initial sedation and an emergency medical procedure that did not help, followed by appointments/consultation with a specialist, and then back to our vet for another sedation and surgery to put in an external fixator on his jaw. Since April we attend bi - weekly vet appointments for antibiotics shots, and to check the cleanliness of screws or whatever else comes up, for example, this poor pup has also had an ear infection from wearing the cone for months on end.
We thought we could afford this tragic ordeal, but this has been a long road to recovery.
