<div>On December 16th, I received the life-changing diagnosis of acute Myeloid Leukemia. The news was overwhelming, and I quickly realized that my journey through treatment would mean stepping away from work for at least the next six months. As someone who has spent years as a career waitress, I’ve always taken pride in supporting myself and my mother. Unfortunately, my monthly social security isn’t enough to cover our basic expenses, and without the ability to work, we’re facing a difficult financial road ahead.
