Help Save Baby Peter: Our 4-Month-Old Shih-Tzu with a Heart Condition

Hi everyone,

My name is Rebecca and I'm reaching out with a heavy heart and hopeful spirit to ask for your support in saving the life of our sweet 4-month-old Shih-Tzu, Peter (aka Petey). Peter was recently diagnosed with pulmonary stenosis, a congenital heart defect that restricts blood flow from his heart to his lungs. His veterinary cardiologist has informed us that Peter is at moderate to high risk for serious cardiac complications, including worsening heart disease. Without treatment, his condition could quickly become life-threatening.

The diagnosis came as a complete shock. We had just welcomed Peter into our lives and took him for his checkup when we got the news. Unfortunately, we received the diagnosis before we could get pet insurance, which means all of Peter’s medical expenses — including tests, medications, and the recommended procedure — are now out-of-pocket.

Despite his condition, Peter is still full of love and puppy energy. He brings joy to everyone he meets, with his tiny wagging tail, playful spirit, and snuggly nature. He’s just starting his life, and we want to give him every chance to live it fully with his sister Piper.

Peter’s best hope is a balloon valvuloplasty — a specialized heart procedure that can greatly improve his heart function and give him a healthy, happy life. But the cost of this surgery, along with ongoing cardiac care, is more than we expected.
