<div>Baby Oliver update. You may have noticed we haven't posted about Oliver yet. It's been a rough few days for us, and won't stop any time soon. After laboring for 24 hours with 0 progress, Oliver's heart was starting to show some struggle to continue, so we needed to have an emergency C-section. That proved to be the best choice for us when we found a cyst on my tubes almost the size of a baseball ⚾️. Surgery went so smoothly. My incision mark looks remarkable already, and Oliver came out perfectly. Doctors closed me up, and while doing so, another came to our side to let us know that Oliver's breathing wasn't as strong as it should be and took him to the NICU. We weren't given the option to love or hold our boy yet. After Alan being by my side through all this, even in surgery, we headed to the 2-hour recovery room, and that's when they came down to give us an update on Oliver. It wasn't news any new parent wants to hear. There were scary little words: Congenital heart failure. Oliver has severe Transposed Arteries (TGA) and will need immediate heart surgery to correct it. We have yet to hold our sweet, beautiful 9.2 lb, 21.5" baby boy. And we are doing our best to stay positive and keep our minds at ease. He does have a better chance at this surgery due to being a healthy, chunky boy! And everything being a good size. He will be having surgery sometime next week. Please keep us in your thoughts and send us the best vibes possible

<div>The Good
</div>
<div>Oliver has been doing FANTASTIC in the NICU. He has amazing color, is taking his IV and oxygen/humidifier so well, and has been getting my colostrum as I've been pumping like crazy. He's getting some of the best care being at MUSC, being #2 in the NATION for cardiology surgeries , and it shows! The crew has been AMAZING in the NICU.

<div>We so far have let his big brother Owen know that he's doing good but just needs a little more time healing up to breathe on his own, and he seems to be doing okay with the news. We told him to not be scared or shocked when he sees tubes in his nose; they're there to help. We have 2 brave boys.

<div>With this journey ahead, it's going to be costly. As he will be in the hospital for a minimum of 6 weeks. Six weeks of driving.Down to Charleston every day, six weeks of parking in downtown Charleston, medical bills stacking up, and all on one salary in this economy. It's going to be some of the hardest times we will face.
