At 20 weeks pregnant, these wonderful expectant parents got the news that baby Liam had a severe brain malformation, called Holoprosencephaly, where the baby’s frontal part of his brain didn’t divide into two hemispheres.

Baby Liam will need assistance learning to talk, walk, eat, go to school, use the bathroom, and perform basic functions through out his life.

These dedicated parents advocated for Liam against termination, their unconditional love paving the way to face the difficulties of raising a special needs child.

Both parents, Tessa and Jacob Olson, were unable to find work that will accommodate the multiple a week appointments necessary to monitor baby Liam safely, wiping out their savings as they continue to care for their other 3 children. Behind in rent, a car payment, and paying a whopping 308 miles worth of gas to travel from Wenatchee to UWMC in Seattle regularly.

Due to other complications, Tessa had to be induced unexpectedly early at 36 weeks. Now their medically fragile child is born premature as well.

Baby Liam joined the world in the early morning of 9/11/25. Currently he is stable, undergoing consistent monitoring in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Facing an extended stay in the NICU, daily costs are incurring such as parking for support guests, gas, food costs, hygiene items, lactation support, and childcare costs for their 3 other children.
