Paul and Gretchen Bragger along with her big sisters Maddy and Kate welcomed their sweet daughter Jane Nicole at 8:32 pm on September 24, 2017. Jane was born 12 weeks earlier than expected. She weighed 1 pound 7 ounces at birth.
The first 104 days of Jane's precious life was spent in the NICU at Crouse Irving Hospital with her family at her side. She spent those days intubated, fighting infections, growing stronger, and bigger. Eventually Jane was extubated, and placed on supplemental oxygen.
Finally on January 6, 2018 Jane joined her family at home. In the care of her family, Jane continued on oxygen therapy. Over the next 16 days Jane continued to grow and become stronger with her family.
On the evening of January 22nd, Jane was found unresponsive by her mother, Gretchen. Gretchen was able to provide CPR to her daughter at home before being rushed back to the hospital, and eventually Syracuse. Since being back in the hospital, she was placed back on life support.
Gretchen and Paul have spent their days at their daughters side, supporting her, and consulting with Jane's many doctors. Jane is currently still on a ventilator, was diagnosed with a chronic lung disease as well as other things that will take a unknown amount of time to recover from.
We are starting this fund raiser to help Gretchen and Paul with the many expenses they have faced in the previous months, as well as to help them to be able to remain with Jane. 100% of all donations will be given to Gretchen and Paul to assist them.
