<div>Set in the vibrant city of L.A, Baby Girl Blue follows lonely spitfire Blu, a high school student just trying to get to school. From fighting with her sister to befriending a homeless woman, our film follows her journey on the Metro as she contends with existing in a world that does not fit her.

<div>Hello, I’m <strong>Alana Morris</strong>, I am an incoming senior at California State University Long Beach, and next semester I’ll be directing one of their thesis films called Baby Girl Blue!
</div>

</div>
<div>Blu's character is very personal to me because I see a lot of myself in her, a girl that yearns for connection, but can't seem to open up easily. I also have a sister, and for a couple of years in my life, she was someone I “hated”. I relate to Blu because I’ve personally been there, resenting my sister, and I feel a lot of us have felt this towards our loved ones. I think it’s normal to go through a rough patch with our family, but at the end of the day, having a familial bond is precious. It’s simply a blessing.

<div>Ultimately, Baby Girl Blue shows us that what we really need is standing right in front of us. It just takes having those hard, uncomfortable conversations to see the beauty of having a sibling.

<div><strong>Meet our Screenwriter,</strong>

<div>Hey there! I’m <strong>Tehya Terry</strong>, a screenwriter born and raised in LA!
</div>
<div>Growing up in a big family with my sisters shaped my life, inspiring the sister story I wrote. This movie is also super personal to me because I used to go to school in Los Feliz and lived in South Central. I really want to capture how isolating it can feel traveling two hours just to get to school, but that experience also gave me a deep love for the metro and LA itself.

<div>I’m really excited to share this story because I see so much of myself in younger generations, especially in my 9-year-old sister. I want to help guide her and others by representing them on screen in a world that’s ready to embrace them!

<div>My name is <strong>Noel Mendoza</strong>, and I’m a cinematographer born and raised in South Central Los Angeles.
</div>

<div>I’m currently studying cinematic arts with a concentration in cinematography at CSU Long Beach, working toward my Bachelor's degree. As a first-generation American and the first in my family to attend college, I carry the legacy of my immigrant parents from Puebla, Mexico, with pride and purpose.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I've gained professional experience working at Underground Films, a production company in Beverly Hills, where I read scripts, wrote synopses, evaluated actors' performances, and provided detailed feedback to my supervisor. Beyond that, I’ve worked on music videos, short films, event shoots, and spec ads for various clients across Los Angeles. These experiences have allowed me to develop a deep understanding of the city's diverse cultural landscapes—an understanding that I bring to every project I work on.

<div>That’s why I feel especially connected to Baby Girl Blue. It’s a story rooted in LA’s culture, and it resonates with my own upbringing and experiences. I went to a Catholic private school in South Central LA, in a community made up predominantly of Black and Brown families. I later attended a Catholic high school in Watts, where I’d hear the Central Avenue train pass by every day. These experiences shaped my perspective and gave me an intimate knowledge of the community—its rhythm, its language, and its soul.

<div>My background influences not just my storytelling, but also how I visually approach a project. I believe my familiarity with local dialects and cultural nuance has informed how the characters in Baby Girl Blue speak and interact. With my background in music videos, I bring dynamic camera movement and creative editing to the table, helping to energize and elevate the narrative. My lighting style leans toward the moody and dramatic, which I feel aligns perfectly with the emotional tone of the story.
