<div>During labor, the amniotic fluid was not squeezed out of his lungs. He was suctioned upon birth. Unfortunately, it quickly became apparent that he <em>was struggling to breathe</em> effectively on his own. He was rushed to the NICU where they quickly got him on a CPAP machine which assisted him with inflating his lungs. He has an IV in his tiny hand.

<div>Tim and Kelly, mom and dad to baby Gabe, are grateful that the feeding tube is no longer necessary and he is working hard at using a bottle. He continues to have episodes of extremely fast breathing. The CPAP machine has been removed<strong><em> but Gabe continues to need oxygen.</em></strong>

<div>Gabe has also <em>developed jaundice. </em>Tim and Kelly were hopeful that Gabe would only be in the NICU for a few hours. It has been four days and the new hope is for Gabe to go home on Sunday; however, <strong><em>the doctors have advised it might not be until some time next week.</em></strong>

<div>Meanwhile, the medical bills are quickly escalating and the future medical needs are unknown. I’m starting this fund to support his parents, Tim and Kelly, and their family to pay for their medical bills. We don’t want the family stressed about anything financial. <strong><em>The average cost of a daily stay in the NICU is anywhere from $3-20K per day.</em></strong>
