<div>Lexi and Tommy DeLasalle are expecting their first child, a little boy named Beau, due in May 2026. Recently, they received devastating news. Beau has been diagnosed with right-sided Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH), a rare condition that affects about 1 in 13,000 babies in the U.S. In Beau’s case, there is a 34% occlusion into his lungs, and his lungs are currently functioning at only about 30% of where they should be.

<div>It’s life-threatening, and it requires highly specialized care.

<div>The specialists at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston are the only team equipped to to conduct a unique fetal procedure that is still considered experimental in the US. After surgery and delivery, Lexi will be required to live within one mile of the hospital for 6–8 months in case of emergency. After being born, Beau will undergo another surgery, and he will remain in the NICU until his lungs develop enough to be weaned off of support.

<div>That means leaving their small town of Trout, Louisiana. It means relocating to Houston. It means rent, food, transportation, and daily living expenses on top of overwhelming medical costs for the foreseeable future.

<div>Lexi and Tommy's family are doing everything they can. Tommy travels to work on a drilling rig in New Mexico. They are young, and they are hardworking. I learned about their situation from Lexi's dad, Leamon Wilson, who is a dear friend of mine. They have a strong family. But strength doesn’t print money. And this road is long.
