Hello, I hope this finds you well. I am reaching out to gather support from all of those wishing to help the Sharpe family as they continue to face ongoing challenges and changing circumstance in caring for their son, Arlo. It has been difficult to live so far away and unable to physically provide respite for them. As a collective, we can offer much more and in a timely manner. I am sharing their story below for those who might not be aware. I have been so proud to love and witness Madison, Ryan, and their families care for each other. Arlo is such a brilliant spirit and has shown such strength and patience against all he has had to endure. If you are in a position to help in any way, please know it will bring a little calm for the family during a very overwhelming time. Thank you for your consideration. Love to you all. - Lindsay Jones, Louisville, KY
Background:
On July 3rd, 2025, Madison and Ryan welcomed their sweet twin boys, Luca and Arlo, joining their proud big brother Bodhi. What should have been a season filled only with joy and celebration quickly became an unexpected and critical medical journey.
Shortly after birth, Arlo was diagnosed with EA/TEF Type C short gap, a rare and serious congenital condition affecting the esophagus and airway. The day he was born he was transported by ambulance to Denver, where he underwent a massive, life-saving surgery. Afterward, Arlo spent five long weeks in the NICU fighting and healing.
Today, Arlo is doing well, and there is so much hope ahead — but his journey is not over. He is currently admitted at Children’s Hospital in Aurora receiving oxygen support and preparing for a medical flight to Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida where he was referred to a surgeon who specializes in complex airway cases, like his. There, he will undergo a tracheopexy, recurrent TEF repair, and more extensive airway scopes. Doctors are hopeful these procedures will make a significant and lasting improvement in his quality of life.
Since December, Madison has traveled back and forth from Breckenridge to Children’s Hospital in Aurora — nearly a 1 hour and 45 minute drive each way — for Arlo’s care. Between countless appointments, ER visits, admissions, and their current hospital stay that began on April 26th, the family has spent more than 40 days in the hospital.
Because of the complexity of Arlo’s upcoming surgery and recovery, Madison and Ryan will likely need to remain in Florida for up to a month. This means extended time away from home and work, while managing travel, lodging, meals, and caring for all three boys during an incredibly challenging season.
We are asking for support to help ease the financial burden so Madison and Ryan can focus on what matters most: being present for Bodhi, Luca, and Arlo, and supporting Arlo’s healing every step of the way.
Thank you so much for surrounding this family with love, encouragement, prayers, and generosity. We truly believe this surgery will do wonders for Arlo, and Madison and Ryan are deeply grateful for the community standing beside them through it all.
