<div>I've been struggling to find the right words to say and going over it in my head whether or not I wanted to even have to post this, but the reality is we need help. During the week of 3/17/25 to 3/21/25 Azi came down with what we believed was an upper respiratory infection. We were told by urgent care it was walking pneumonia, he was prescribed meds, and was told it should clear up in a few days. On March 26th after working all day he continued to not feel well, having trouble breathing, which prompted him to go back to the urgent care. They did an x-ray and sent him to the ER stating a possible lung collapse. Once at St Luke's they did a CT scan and advised him they saw a mass on or near his lung, and lots of fluid in his chest, and around his heart. They decided they were sending him to White Plains Hospital. At 4am he was shipped out to White Plains, this entire time Avery and I were at home. Once he was at White Plains their main focus was removing the pericardial fluid from around his heart because that was the emergency. His oxygen levels had plummeted and they couldn't get it to drain the way they would have liked. After spending one night there they made the decision to transport him to the Montefiore Bronx Campus. Once there in the cardiac care unit (for the 2nd time), they explained he would need surgery, they needed to do a pericardial window procedure to drain the fluid more rapidly. Once that happened (which at this point is Sunday morning), he came back showing great improvement, they no longer had to bump his oxygen up when he was moving around, he even eventually was taken off the oxygen all together. As we were happy about the improvements, we now had a new focus. What caused this. They had been throwing around possibilities this entire time, but the main focus was cancer. This was some type of cancer most likely. They explained to us the "mass" St Luke's saw although on imaging looked like a mass it was a bunch of lymphnodes that were inflamed causing this mass like picture. They continued to wait for biopsies to come back, pathology to come back, and finally after being moved to the oncology floor in preparation on 4/4/25 we found out Azi had Nodular Sclerosis Lymphoma Stage 2 B Bulky. He began treatment in the hospital with me (Angelina) there with him on 4/5/25. After 11 days in the hospital, he was finally able to come home on 4/6/25. As ecstatic as we were (and are) to have him home the reality set in we have to navigate this all in a different way. There's been time away from work, there's been expenses that go along with the care and the treatment, and at this point, a little more than half way through what we're expecting to be an in total 6 month journey we find ourselves struggling. Even with me working, and what Azi gets with disability and his job we've come to a point where we aren't making ends meet. I still don't even want to be writing this, but life gets messy, hectic, and as people we need realize it's okay to say we need help. Azi and I are saying it, we need help.
