In the early morning hours of Thanksgiving, our dear friends Andre and Danielle received a call that would change their lives forever. Their son, Avery Nieuwendam, was driving home from a friend’s house when a drunk driver ran a red light and struck his car at a high rate of speed. The impact was devastating, and by all accounts from state troopers and the medical team, it’s nothing short of a miracle that Avery survived. He has already undergone multiple surgeries and faces a long and challenging road to recovery in the months ahead. 
 
 
 Andre and Danielle are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, messages, and visits. The support from friends, family, and the community has meant more than they can express. Right now, they are still processing everything that has happened and need a bit of space to focus on Avery and the difficult decisions ahead. They kindly ask for no visitors at the hospital for the next two weeks while they navigate Avery’s recovery plan. 
 
 
 Many have asked how they can help. We have set up this GoFundMe to support Avery as his injuries will, unfortunately, have long-term impacts on his life. The funds raised will go directly toward Avery’s medical bills, ongoing rehabilitation, and necessary home modifications to support his recovery.
