Support Auggie's Fight in the NICU

Donation protected
Hello, this is Auggie's big sister Alyza. I am doing this for my mom (Meghan) & Thomas. If you know my mom & Tom Tom, they would never ask for anything, but right now, they are in a time of need. Therefore, I am doing this for them because they will not. She's stressed over bills & medical expenses because she had my brother 3 weeks early. He is in the NICU very, very sick right now & fighting. Mom is self-employed, & Thomas is in construction. No work, no pay for both. So many people have reached out asking how they can help. There is nothing anyone can do right now besides this & many prayers! Please do not feel obligated to help & if you can't, I understand. But please, keep him in your thoughts & prayers!

Auggie's Story:
August "Auggie" Joseph Lynch was born on Tuesday 11/19/2024 at Advent Health. He weighed 6lbs 5oz & was 19.25 inches long!
He was born crying. They checked him & gave him some oxygen for irregular breathing. Then, they did skin-to-skin with Mom for 45 minutes. Dad & Auggie's siblings got to hold him. That is when the doctors noticed his breathing was still irregular. They took him to the NICU for a quick visit. A quick visit became a CPAP machine for his breathing overnight, to being sedated & put on a ventilator. The next morning, they were told, "We need to get Auggie to Children's Mercy right away by this afternoon." He took a turn & is very, very sick. Doctors wanted him somewhere where an ECMO machine was available if needed. Auggie was then transferred to Children's Mercy. Mom was discharged 16 hours after birth so she & Thomas could go with him. As soon as they got there, a doctor came out & spoke to them. He said, "We have no other option right now but to get him on ECMO right away. He has a blood infection that we need to help him fight off. The ECMO machine will take over for his heart & lungs. We will put him on three antibiotics to fight it until we know exactly what it is." The same day, they decided his kidneys needed help also, so they put him on dialysis. He also needed clean plasma. Therefore, another machine was added. Auggie is now hooked up to 4 machines! Thursday, everything stayed the same & he was still very sick. They were told that he could only be on ECMO for up to a month. If that doesn't help him fight off the infection, there is nothing else they can do. Friday, they found out he had Strep B Pnuemo. Strep B is a blood infection with Pnuemonia in the lungs. They dropped his antibiotics down to one & added an antiviral med since he's now septic & could possibly have meningitis in his brain. They are still waiting on the test results for that. Saturday, he started moving a bit on his own after taking him off some of his sedation meds. He peed & pooped a couple of times. His lungs also had a tiny bit of function on their own. All good signs!!! It is now just a waiting game to see if the infection starts going away. He has four blood tests a day to see if his numbers are going down & that is how they will know if it's working. They have already been told they will be in the hospital for weeks, which was a total surprise. Thomas expected to return to work a week after Auggie was born. They have been by Auggie's side the entire time. This is his story so far. We would love to keep everyone updated on here as Mom & Thomas have been a little overwhelmed with so many texts & calls, but they are truly appreciated. Thank you for any help you can give & please pray for my brother Auggie.
