Support Aubrey's Road to Recovery!

Hello, my name is Cortney Salmon and for the first time in my life, I am reaching out for emotional as well as, financial support for my family and I.

Last fall, my husband, Chris Salmon and I were so excited to announce that we were expecting our second little one coming this May 2017. Shortly after at our 20 week ultrasound, our hearts and family, were quickly devastated to find out that our new little one BG Aubrey has a congenital heart defect, known as Pulmonary Atresia. As of right now, the doctors do know that BG Aubrey does NOT have blood flow out of the right side of her heart, and into her lungs. Fortunately, she is getting supplied blood and oxygen to her lungs from me, which is the only thing keeping her lungs developing normally.

Unfortunately, this means that immediately upon birth she will need heart surgery to quickly repair this abnormality, for she will no longer be getting that blood supplied from me, and she will not be able to sustain life.

For the past several months, my husband and I, have had to attend several appointments  with Pediactric Cardiologists, surgeons, and Maternal-Fetal Medicine doctors at the University of Virginia's Medical Center in Charlottesville, VA. They are located about an hour away from where we currently reside, in Richmond VA. Which means that I will be deliverying at UVA , and having to stay in Charlottesville, VA for the remainder of Aubrey's care in the NICU. As of right now, the doctor's have told us that she will be needing to stay in the NICU for a minimum of a month, in order to be well enough to come home.

I am having to take an extended unpaid leave of absense from work in order to care for our new little one, Aubrey. For that reason, my family and I, are reaching out to all our friends and family for not only emotional support but financial support as well.  It has been extremely stressful and draining on our family trying to prepare for medical expenses, lodging and meals for me while in Charlottesville.

My husband and I, are pretty private when it comes to personal situations going on in our lives. Doing this GoFundMe page was an extremely hard decision for us to make but this problem has become to big for us to handle alone. I am hoping you can look into your heart and graciously contribute.  The support we have already received from our immediate family has been overwhelming. We are truely grateful and appreciative for all the good that we have received so far in this terrible situation.
