Together we can change the statistics

According to the documentary, The Social Dilemma, the amount of United States hospital admissions for nonfatal self-harm has gone up by 62 percent for girls between the ages of 15 and 19. For girls who fall into the 10 to 14 age range, the figure has increased by 189 percent since social media became mainstream.

Experts are seeing the same trend with suicide rates. Suicides in teen girls between the ages of 15 and 19 have increased by 70 percent compared to the first decade of the century. The suicide rate of preteen girls (between the ages of 10 and 14) has increased by 151 percent in the same time frame.  Although experts can't say that social media, specifically, has caused these alarming trends, the correlation is unsettling. (Social Dilemma, 2020).

As parents and former teen girls we are heartbroken and horrified to learn these statistics.

As advocates, educators and entrepreneurs we know solutions are possible and are committed to providing one.

We did our research and here's what we've learned and developed:

Purpose is one of the most essential but overlooked aspects of healthy adolescent development. Research shows that teens who seek purpose find higher levels of life satisfaction and happiness; it can serve as a significant anchor during the ups and downs of adolescent development. Teens who develop a sense of purpose do better in school, are more resilient and healthier.

With the help of adolescent psychologists and Common Sense Media’s Digital Citizenship Curriculum we created Her Story Mentorship: a program that educates and empowers girls to shift their focus away from the digital world toward real-world purpose by offering them an experience with entrepreneurship.

We will offer digital-wellness workshops and a 3 month mentoring program connecting girls with their own sense of purpose. We've provided a detailed breakdown of the program below if you're interested in learning more.

We know anxiety disorders, depression, self harm and eating and substance use disorders do not develop overnight.   Suicide rates don't skyrocket overnight.   We know change won't happen overnight either.

It will take time and dedication.  It will take resources.  It will take other parents, other communities, more advocates and educators joining this mission.  It will take work.

At a time when they are at risk to suffer,  we want to offer a program that will allow them to shine.

It will take people like you.

OUR entrepreneurial vision is to offer Her Story Mentorship workshops and programming to girls across the country.  Our intention is to intervene EARLIER, when girls begin to show signs of at-risk behavior and help change these unacceptable statistics.

Whether you donate or share our campaign with the people in your life who are passionate about girl empowerment, we are truly grateful for your support.

On behalf of our team and the girls we are committed to helping, we thank you.
