<div>A few months ago, Ashlyn's sweet cat Tuna had a stroke that left him unable to feel his left paw. She found him struggling to breathe and limping, and she rushed him to the emergency vet, where he had to stay overnight for tests. That night, she got the devastating news: Tuna has heart disease.

<div>Caring for Tuna has been an emotional and financial challenge. Because of his numb paw, he injured it on the way to the vet, ripping it open and losing a nail. The wound became infected, requiring frequent vet visits for laser therapy, cast changes, and antibiotics. This all happened while Ashlyn was in the middle of a move, forcing her to switch vets mid-treatment. Thankfully, his paw has made a 95% recovery, but his heart condition is ongoing.

<div>Tuna now requires three medications twice a day for the rest of his life. Sadly, that life may be shorter than Ashlyn hoped—cats with his condition often live only a year or two. It’s been nearly a year, and while she dreads the day she will have to say goodbye, she is determined to give him the best life possible for as long as she can.
