Hi everyone,

My name is Austin and I never thought I’d have to make one of these, but my sweet boy Asher needs your help more than ever.

On Monday, while playing his favorite game of fetch, Asher was hit directly in the right eye by a ball. It caused a serious condition called lens luxation, where the lens inside his eye has shifted out of place and is now laying on the top of his eye.

Since then, we’ve had multiple vet visits, and right now there’s still hope we can save the vision in his right eye, but time is critical. The vet says Asher is an excellent candidate for surgery to repair the lens and restore his vision, but it costs $2,500, and between the vet visits to find out what was wrong and what we could do, my bank account has been emptied out. All money donated will go directly for paying for the surgery, and possibly medicine for when he's home after.

The other option is to remove the eye entirely for $1,600, but as long as there’s a chance to save his sight, I want to fight for him. Without this surgery, Asher is at risk of glaucoma, extreme pain, and permanent blindness.

To make things even harder, his left eye is also showing early signs of lens luxation. He’s now on medication to help prevent it from happening there, but it’s too late to save his right eye without immediate surgery.

Asher isn’t just a dog, he’s family. He’s a big brother to our one-year-old German Shepherd mix, Zoey, and the best friend to my daughter Emilynn, who adores him endlessly. He’s my silly, sweet, scared of the dark, bug-hunting teddy bear who loves paddleboarding, hiking, and exploring the forests of the PNW.

Over the years, Asher has made so many amazing friends and touched so many lives. If you’ve ever met him, you know how lovable, goofy, and gentle he is, and how many people truly adore him.

The vet wants to do the surgery as soon as tomorrow to give him the best chance at keeping his vision. Without help, we won’t be able to afford it, and he’ll lose the life he loves living.
