Hello, I am starting a GoFundMe for my sister Angela and her 8-month-old kitten, Chorizo. She and her husband rescued him from a barn this past summer, and he adapted into their household very well. He is normally a playful, energetic kitten with fierce orange cat energy. He started to act off a week ago, and Angela made sure he didn't have a urinary blockage, which is common for so many male cats regardless of age. That wasn't the issue, and he seemed to get better throughout the week until today. She noticed that he was breathing very heavily and laying on his side a lot. She took him to the vet, and they did bloodwork that revealed severe anemia from an unknown cause at this time. She called some 24/7 ER hospitals to see how much it would be to transfer him and do a blood transfusion overnight. The baseline cost of that is around $5,000 to start. She and her husband cannot afford that at this time, like so many of us couldn't with prices of everything rising and financial struggles being the norm right now. She is keeping him on fluids, oxygen, and antibiotics at her regular vet and then checking bloodwork again until 3 pm today. If he does not improve, they will probably need to humanely euthanize. I set this up as quickly as I could, so I apologize if some of the words are jumbled, but please, if anyone can donate and help to get him the blood transfusion/hospitalization he needs, it would be so very greatly appreciated!! Thank you for your time.
