<div><strong>David Misholum, Angela Chia, and their son Leo have been anxiously awaiting the birth of their baby on June 4.</strong> The pregnancy was uncomplicated and they planned for a peaceful home birth like they had with Leo.

<div>On May 12th, still 3 1/2 weeks from their due date, the unthinkable happened. <strong>The baby suffered a rare, life-threatening complication called Fetal-Maternal Hemorrhage.</strong> This means that the baby hemorrhaged her blood back into the placenta. A lot of blood. The baby stopped moving and Angie’s instincts kicked in. They got to the hospital just in time for an emergency C-section to save the baby’s life. The baby was very sick at birth (pale and unresponsive) and needed resuscitation and a blood transfusion. She required specialized transport to a different hospital for higher level NICU CARE. She is currently undergoing cooling therapy in the NICU to help her brain and organs.

<div>She needs our prayers that her brain fully recovers from this incident. To say she’s a beautiful baby is an understatement. She is already so loved and treasured by her family and community.
</div>

<div>Angela is recovering from the unexpected, traumatic event and her body is healing. She and David are with baby in NICU as much as possible, while still trying to keep a sense of normalcy for Leo. 
</div>

</div>
<div>Both Angela and David are self-employed acupuncturists and did not anticipate being away from work as long as they will need to be. <strong>They are concerned about medical expenses as the baby is receiving Level 3 NICU care.</strong> They anticipate other expenses as they navigate this new normal and their new addition.

<div>David and Angela are the salt of this earth. They are kind and compassionate and always willing to show up and support others. I hope that their community (and beyond) can send that love back to them with a financial donation to ease their stress.
