Support and Love for Jon Bos and Family

Friends and colleague of Jon Bos, we’re asking frankly and passionately for your help.
Our beloved friend Jon was in a serious car accident on the morning of Friday March 13 in Maryland, not far from his home, while driving to pick up milk from the store and another driver swerved into his lane.
Jon suffered a traumatic brain injury as well as broken neck, arm, leg and pelvis. Since then he has been in the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland in Baltimore and has already been through surgeries. He will need more.
Then on Monday his family learned more about the extent of brain injury from this accident. Jon has been diagnosed with a Diffuse Axonal Injury Grade 3. The implications of this severe injury are still to be learned over the next several crucial days.
As you might imagine, this is a difficult and emotional time for his loved ones. It has been made even harder by the fact that the coronavirus is wreaking havoc on the hospital system and visitation has been limited to one person at a time. His wife Renee has been sharing information with other family members outside of the building given the challenges of limited visitation privileges. But the burden of the costs of housing and food necessary for Renee, his son Zack, and other family members and friends to maintain a vigil nearby are already mounting and they will continue for the foreseeable future.
Many friends have asked how they can help Jon and his family. Your messages of support and your prayers are invaluable. Later, when they can return to their home, meals and logistical help will be welcomed. For now, we have set up this page to help defray the financial burdens that are hitting his family so unexpectedly right now, and growing.
You may know Jon in one of his many roles: proud father, dedicated husband, heart transplant miracle, valued teacher of AP Literature and Composition, director of stage musicals, high school mentor, college advocate, celebrant at numerous weddings and so much more. Jon is a special person, and we now want to give a little back and show our support.

In 2013 Jon told Walter Johnson High School’s digital newspaper The Pitch that his lifetime aspirations included enlightenment, world peace, an end to poverty and learning how to roll a quarter across his knuckles. We look forward to having him back to do all of those things. Right now, we need to help Renee as well as Jon’s other loved ones in a time of need.
