Support and Healing For my Mother Debbie Mattos

Hi everyone, my name is Joanna Mattos and I am creating this gofundme page for my mom, Debbie Mattos. My mom was diagnosed with Ductal Carcinoma In-Situ last year. Which is pre-cancer cells. It was removed in July. As a preventive measure she then received radiation treatments. When she got her genetic testing results she found out she is BRCA1 positive which means she has hereditary Breast and Ovarian cancer. With this type of diagnosis the preventive measures are to remove the breast tissue and do implants and then also remove the ovaries. She was referred to a general surgeon and a plastic surgeon in Honolulu. Upon her first appointment with the surgeons she found out that because she had radiation treatment they cannot save any part of the breast. She will need a full mastectomy and reconstructive surgery on the left breast. She will be going to Honolulu on January 14th for her pre-op appointment and January 20th for the first surgery. The first surgery will be to the left breast that had the pre-cancer cells as it had received only 11 out of the 16 radiation treatments. Because of this happening, it has affected my mom financially to where she lost her side side business and has not been able to work as many hours as she used to at her second job. Which has caused her difficulty in paying her monthly bills. She and my grandmother will have to stay in Honolulu for approximately 3-4 weeks. During that period they will have the extra expense of lodging, living and travel expenses while there. Not to mention normal monthly expenses. At this point we don’t know what the costs will be but I’m asking if anyone can help my mom while she goes through it will be very much appreciated.
