After much thought and consideration of Taylor’s needs, I have decided to start a gofundme in hopes of alleviating the financial stresses of her looking into alternative options of care as she continues to battle cancer. While her medical treatments are covered through her insurance, she has mentioned the desire to look into alternative, more holistic treatment options. The only downside to alternative care is the price tag.

<div>There is nothing we wouldn’t pay to get Taylor the care that she needs to fight through her stage 4 diagnosis. So many of you have graciously reached out and asked how to help her. She is at a point in her journey where monetary support would make a huge difference in the alternative options available to her. I want her to know that she is not fighting alone and she has the love, support, and care of SO many people.

<div>“I have gone back and forth more times than I would like to count about if, how and when I should update about my recent health struggles. As most of you know, I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Colorectal Cancer in September of 2022. After nine months of symptoms that were blown off by my OB, I finally convinced them to get me a colonoscopy when Hadlee was 3 months old. The colonoscopy showed a tumor that was nearly closing off my colon/rectum. Within two weeks of finding out, treatment started. We spent a full year fighting with chemotherapy, chemo radiation and surgeries. From June to October, there were no signs of progression and on blood work, I appeared cancer free. I was thankfully able to get my temporary ileostomy reversed and we were very ready to move on from this scary time.

<div>Unfortunately, my blood work started to show signs that the cancer was returning. On recent scans and with biopsy confirmation, my cancer has returned to my lungs. This progression changes my diagnosis to Stage 4 and there are a lot of moving parts to try to determine the best course of action. My current oncologist believes that long term chemotherapy is my only option. I am determined to find someone who can offer more solutions or treatment options. We have another consult with Johns Hopkins next week to get their opinion and my hopes is to transfer my care to their team. I am looking into clinical trials, reaching out to other facilities and am part of several support groups that are offering me hope that there is more to be done than just chemotherapy indefinitely.

<div>I did not want to post this for sympathy or to draw attention. I know that so many people are invested in my story and wonder what is going on. And for those of you who are not necessarily invested, I at minimum wanted to bring awareness about how it is so important to trust your body and not take no for an answer when it comes to your health.

<div>It gets difficult for us to update everyone and I’ve decided the easiest way to do that is to just be open. I have learned over the last year that sometimes it is better to share, rather than to keep things bottled up. I am so grateful for the support team that I have. Amazing friends, unwavering support from my family, and the sweetest and most supportive work family. A lot of people have asked how they can help or what they can do and honestly, I do not know the answer to that. For those of you who know me well, I am probably going to push forward, continue to do chemotherapy, keep up with appointments and work and try to act like nothing is going on. For over a year, that has been my way of dealing with this. It is easiest for me to try to keep our lives as normal as possible, even though we are facing unimaginable struggles.
