Friends, Alison Harper and her sister ran a wonderful salon in Laurel, MD and were recently forced to shutter their doors because clients could not get to them due to the pandemic. This GoFundMe campaign comes too late to save their Laurel location, but they
hope to relocate to Beltsville and open a tea and herbs shop with their brother as soon as they raise enough capital to do so. They have been mournfully selling off their equipment and bidding farewell to loyal clientele. It is heartbreaking, though Alison is incredibly strong through it all.
As one small business to another, her loss is my loss and the trickle-down effect is a loss to our community and to our economy. Never one to accept defeat, she has reinvented herself every time the circumstances have required her to do so. She is a smart and savvy businesswoman with an eye for detail and a strict adherence to health and safety regulations, especially during the pandemic. Any funds raised from this GoFundMe campaign will go to Alison and her family to put towards the opening of her new shop and towards getting them back on their feet after such an unexpected upheaval. When approached with this idea, she was hesitant because she felt that there were "so many people more in need" than herself. Hopefully, we can demonstrate that the community cares for each small business and the moms and dads that run them because we all understand that these are the building blocks upon which our communities thrive.
Alison is an incredible mother and one of the sweetest people you will ever come to know. Her precious family includes her toddler daughter (who makes everyone fall in love with her), her boyfriend and three adorable step-daughters. She is one of our family/clients/friends and I ask our fellow family/clients/friends to support her and her beautiful family during this struggle.
