<div>Hey there,
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My name is Danielle, and I’m starting this GoFundMe for <strong>an incredible teacher who has dedicated her life to helping children grow and thrive.</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Ms. Shakia Carter is an assistant teacher at Primrose School, where she has spent the past year and a half pouring her heart into the lives of young learners. With over 10 years of working with children, she brings warmth, patience, and passion to her classroom every day. Shakia loves the children as her own, and anyone who encounters her describes her as the heart of the team — always supportive, always positive, always giving more than she has to give.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>On December 19, 2025, Shakia’s world was turned upside down. A devastating fire broke out in her apartment. Fire crews were called to respond, and while Shakia survived, her home was completely destroyed, leaving her without a place to live and with very little to rebuild her life.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The fire was documented in this official Alexandria Fire Department release:
</div>
<div><a href="https://www.alexandriava.gov/news-afd/2025-12-19/for-immediate-release-structure-fire-with-medical-emergency-on-fillmore-avenue" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><a href="https://www.alexandriava.gov/news-afd/2025-12-19/for-immediate-release-structure-fire-with-medical-emergency-on-fillmore-avenue" target="_blank" class="" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://www.alexandriava.gov/news-afd/2025-12-19/for-immediate-release-structure-fire-with-medical-emergency-on-fillmore-avenue</a></a>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Now, her community is coming together to support her.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Shakia has given so much to the families and children she serves. Now she needs our help. The funds raised will go to:
</div>
<ul>
<li>Immediate housing costs (temporary stay, moving expenses)
</li>
<li>Clothing, personal items, and daily essentials
</li>
<li>Replacing furniture and belongings lost in the fire
</li>
<li>Support for food, transportation, and basic needs as she rebuilds
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>No one should have to start over from nothing, especially someone who has spent years shaping the lives of others.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Please donate if you’re able, every dollar helps.</strong> Even if you can’t give, sharing this fundraiser with your friends and community means the world.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you for showing Shakia that her kindness has come back around. ❤️
</div>
