<div>Hi, my name is Lisa and my nephew is Alec Medina. Alec has been in the hospital very sick since June of 2024, battling a serious disease called encephalitis. Alec was a happy, healthy, intelligent 14-year-old boy who had just celebrated his 8th-grade graduation when he suddenly fell ill. He was initially diagnosed with a condition called Rhabdomyolysis but never recovered from this and was later diagnosed with encephalitis. Alec was looking forward to attending Catholic Central for high school and playing as a freshman for the varsity soccer team. He was so excited to play alongside his brother Maury, who is currently a senior at Catholic Central.

<div>Alec has been at DeVos Children's Hospital for the past few months, but after many months of testing, no progress, and a steady decline in his health, he was transferred from DeVos Children's to Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI. <strong>As of today, October 15, 2024, Alec's health has declined significantly, and he is in desperate need of our prayers!</strong> Alec has not responded to any of the treatments given thus far, and the doctors are working hard to try and find the source of the cause for his illness. The true source of what is causing his encephalitis is still unknown. Alec and his family are asking for prayers and support during this difficult time. The emotional strain of having a child suffering for such an extended period of time has put a true burden on the family.
