<div>To all of you who have helped the Alfaro family, Thank You. This is a tough time, and without friends and family to support them, they don’t know where they’d be. With Aldo being a major pillar in the home, being away has put a strain on his wife and 4 small children.

<div>On May 5th, Aldo went to the hospital experiencing excruciating leg pain. After an X-ray determined nothing was broken, an MRI was scheduled. The MRI results reported there were suspicious lesions, and possible malignancy on his femur. Due to the severity of the results, a bone biopsy was scheduled at the end of June.

<div>On July 2, Aldo received the news that he has a rare form of cancer: Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, BCR-ABL. BCR-ABL is a genetic abnormality and leukemia subtype, which is aggressive and has historically had a poor prognosis. For this reason, he was immediately admitted into the hospital. During the month of July, he underwent numerous procedures, including bone marrow biopsies, lumbar punctures, chemo injections, immunotherapy, and surgery to replace the femur that was completely damaged from the cancer spreading.

<div>At this time, Aldo continues to go to Cedars Sinai weekly. His current treatment consists of chemo, 24/7 immunotherapy through a PICC line, and TKIs. Aldo is currently waiting for his bone marrow transplant, where he was found a match with his cousin. This procedure is invasive and time consuming- he will spend up to another month, during the holidays, in the hospital under close observation. Any donations made will go directly to the family to support with bills, childcare, meals, and daily living.
