SUPPORT ALAS DE AGUA COMMUNITY BUILDING

Donation protected
We are Alas de Agua Art Collective. We are a grassroots collective that finally opened our physical doors January 19,2020. We had been working in the community in different capacities for the last several years thanks to the Kindle Project and people like you.  We do not currently qualify for any government relief because we can't show proof of "revenue loss" even though 2020 has been in many ways about "revenue loss" But so many other precious doors have opened for us showing us community and resilience. In the meantime we are asking our community to help us keep the lights on. Keep the lights on for the next year, this is our first 10,000 goal for rent and utilities. Our second $10,000 goal is to to buy land in the Airport Road Southside District, this 10,000 will allow us to approach other funding sources willing to match your donation and get us closer to a more sustainable reality!

Why us?
When COVD 19 hit New Mexico we were forced to shut our doors after less than two months of opening. . This was more than ten years in the making to get to opening our doors, as it was a life long vision of Israel Haros to open up a community center. But when one door closes, another one opens. Alas de Agua Art Collective Partnered up with Youthworks , Reunity Resources, Mother Resource Center and Santa Fe County to find land to farm during the months that the building was closed. (Side note WE ARE LOOKING FOR MORE PARTNERS TO CONTINUE THE WORK 2021!)We established one "Full Circle Farm" on San Isidro Crossing and Agua Fria and in the midst of helping establish a second Farm in La Cienega. John Paul Granillo, Gina Auz and Youthworks have been distributing food boxes out of Alas de Agua Art School sometimes the abudance has led to 800 to 1000 food boxes distributed. So in the end your contributions last year that paid the rent have led us to this moment. This was the major blessing that we knew would come from a grassroots collective, that we adapt to the peoples needs. "If you build it they will come" has consistently surprised and shaped us.  We will continue to be a presence in this community because the founding members and the members that are being trained to become leaders to shape their own destiny. These are the prayers answered. To give the tools that empower community members to make direct actions. With your help we can continue to foster a more sustainable reality.

Every dollar helps us continue our work towards the future. If you have land to donate anywhere in the world consider first giving it back to the original inhabitants, then consider giving another piece to grassroots efforts that answer to the people first. So consider donating to us for what we are trying our best to walk in these times.
