<div>I am the first student loan activist in the Unites States. I founded <a href="https://studentloanjustice.org/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong>StudentLoanJustice.org</strong></a> in 2005. I wrote the first <a href="https://www.beacon.org/The-Student-Loan-Scam-P783.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong>book</strong></a> on the topic (Beacon Press, 2008). I and our group have been featured on 60 Minutes (top story), CNN, Fox News, the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Rolling Stone, Chronicle of Higher Education, The Guardian, and many, many other places. I was selected as one of 7 "financial heroes" by CNN in 2008. I created the <a href="https://change.org/cancelstudentloans" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong>petition</strong></a> in 2020 that garnered 1.2 million signatures and launched the concept of cancelling student loans by executive order. My group is credited with being the inspiration behind multiple pieces of bipartisan bankruptcy legislation going back to 2005, and most recently in 2021.

<div>I am very serious about ending the unconstitutional, viciously predatory, and <a href="https://studentloanjustice.medium.com/the-federal-student-loan-program-is-in-its-death-throes-06a5ea978b44" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong>catastrophically failed student loan scam</strong></a> that is now a national threat to our people.

They are weak. Unlike <a href="https://studentloanjustice.medium.com/astroturf-has-overrun-student-loan-activism-e73f91e67b21" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><strong>most other groups</strong></a> in this space, we are uncorrupted. We won't do deals with the student loan industry, sell our members out, or stray from our mission of <strong>getting standard bankruptcy rights returned to student loans, and making actual, widespread, meaningful student loan cancellation happen.</strong>
