The AGCA Team
Full details:
As many of you know, the Armenian Gampr Club of America (AGCA) remains deeply committed to preserving the ancient and extraordinary Gampr breed.
Over many years, we have worked closely with our trusted contacts to track, identify, and record quality Gampr lineage owned by nomadic shepherds and villagers all across Armenia, as well as Artsakh, prior to the hostile takeover.
Thanks to these efforts, we have successfully sourced exceptional Gamprs, with some puppies being imported to North America through our AGCA Special Genetics Program.
The Program was halted in 2020 when the US placed a ban on importing dogs from 113 countries, including Armenia. This saw the last 21 pups reasonably and economically imported to North America through our Program. Since then, there have been only 3 (unrelated) imports to travel to the US.
These genetics from years of selectively importing puppies from Armenia have built the Gampr gene pool and is the reason that we are fortunate enough to have them watching over countless farms and homesteads across North America.
The lack of new genetics is worrisome, however. For a stable future gene pool, we can't sit back and do nothing. Genetic diversity is needed to continue the conservation efforts forward to sustain the breed in a healthy manner.
Updates For 2025
Importing to the US is possible again, which is excellent news! However, the price is more costly due to new regulations, additional testing requirements, and importing age and size.
Our partner on the ground in Armenia, Tigran Grigoryan, sourced four exceptional puppies from a nomadic shepherd in the mountains of Aragats—a rare opportunity given the breed’s fragile status and the limited number of aboriginal Gamprs remaining.
We immediately began networking to find responsible, approved homes for all four pups. Three have been reserved by private farms already but unfortunately, due to the current economy and increase in importing cost, the fourth puppy has not yet been purchased.
Given the status of the Gampr and the limited time we have to act, we believe it is imperative to step in to secure this pup and to bring these special genetics to the US.
You Can Help
We are reaching out to ask for your support in helping us do so.
Your donation will help ensure the safe transport and care of this puppy, preserving vital genetics and furthering the AGCA and community's mission to protect this remarkable breed.
We are humbly reaching out to our dedicated Gampr community and faithful supporters to help us bring this girl home to the US. This opportunity is not only special—it is vital to the long term preservation of the breed’s integrity and diversity.
We fully recognize that these are uncertain times, and many of our farmers and homesteaders are facing financial challenges. With that in mind, we are not asking for large contributions from a few, but instead inviting all who care about the future of the Gampr to consider giving what they can.
Your donation, no matter the size, will go directly to help offset the importation cost which includes care, food, flight, crate, testing, vetting, vaccinations, dewormer, microchipping, and purchase price to the shepherd.
All funds will be transferred to our partner, Tigran Grigoryan, in Yerevan, Armenia, via MoneyGram Services, to complete all necessary payments for importation. This MoneyGram payment will be facilitated by Emily Mayer Lowery. Receipts of all transactions will be posted for the public expeditiously.
Together, we can take meaningful action to safeguard this remarkable breed.

How the Program Will Work
To ensure the health, wellbeing, and long-term contribution to the Gampr breed, the AGCA will implement the following framework for this importation initiative:
•Co-Ownership:
The pup will remain co-owned by the AGCA. This ensures long-term support for the puppy and new owner.
•Breeding & Donation Commitment:
At the appropriate age, the new owner will commit to completing all health testing and OFA CHIC Certification. Then if determined the adult should be bred, the owner shall donate the full purchase price of one puppy back to AGCA following the sale of the first future litter. This helps fund more cool initiatives like this! They will also agree to allow AGCA to place a second puppy in an approved home at half price to pay forward a great opportunity to another farm in need. Money from this sale will go to the import owner.
•Contract & Rehoming:
The new owner will be required to sign a puppy contract which will include a return-to-club agreement, ensuring that if the pup ever needs to be rehomed, it will come back to the AGCA network for appropriate placement.
•Owner Financial Contribution:
In addition to the future litter donation, the new owner will also contribute an amount toward the initial import cost which will be determined based on this fundraiser.
Thank You, In Advance
We’ve never made a request for pups like this before, but in these unprecedented times, our commitment to the future of this ancient and remarkable breed remains unwavering.
Thank you for your generosity, your support, and your belief in the mission of the Armenian Gampr Club of America. Together, we can make a lasting impact for the Gampr and generations to come.
Stay Wild,
