Adriana Barbosa was a loving mother to her two daughters, Kathleen and Kayla. Life was looking up for their family: the older daughter is preparing for medical school, while the younger is about to finish high school. Adriana had recently received her green card, filed for divorce from her abusive husband, and was looking forward to a new chapter. Tragically, last night, Adriana was murdered by her ex-husband while her younger daughter was in the home. Now, both girls are left without any relatives in this country, and their father will be incarcerated.

 Adriana was incredibly proud of the home she worked so hard to purchase for her daughters. With her gone, Kathleen and Kayla face an uncertain future. They will need help with living expenses, mortgage payments, and education costs as they try to maintain stability and pursue their dreams. Both girls are hardworking—balancing jobs and school—but the challenges ahead are immense. The hope is that the older daughter can become her sister's guardian, but right now, they need all the support they can get.
