<div>Aaron “Godson” Hernandez has been a hip-hop artist in the Northwest Territories for over 20 years. He has released 11 albums &amp; has performed in many northern communities. Aaron is a beloved and inspiring member of the North. He’s represented the North on TV like Family Feud, Dragons’ Den &amp; Canadian Idol. His resilience in the face of this diagnosis is nothing short of inspiring, but he needs our help now more than ever.

<div>On November 29th, 2023, Aaron was medivaced from Yellowknife to the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute. After months of blood work, biopsies, and imaging, Aaron was diagnosed with Anaplastic T-cell lymphoma, a rare type of lymphoma now in stage 4. He started chemotherapy at the Cross Cancer in Edmonton on January 26, 2024. Although the road ahead will be long, Godson is determined and prepared to fight this battle.

<div>Aaron’s wife Melissa has been in Edmonton with him since he was medivaced. Their children, Selena (16 years old) and Tyson (14 years old), have stayed home in Yellowknife with family but were able to visit at Christmas after many weeks apart.

<div>We have started this GoFundMe, with the approval of Aaron and the Hernandez family, to try and ease their financial burden. As you might imagine, a lengthy stay away from home gets expensive quickly. Any financial assistance will go towards costs associated with their stay in Edmonton, bills, and their family, who are looking after Selena and Tyson while in school.
