<div>Hi friends, my name is Miguel, and I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my mother, who has been diagnosed with breast cancer. For privacy and emotional well-being during treatment, she has chosen to remain anonymous.

<div>She has been diagnosed with <strong>stage 3 HER2-positive invasive ductal carcinoma, </strong>a type of cancer that requires <strong>specialized and costly treatment</strong>. Fortunately and despite the adversities in the Caribbean, I was able to help her leave Venezuela in time and access care abroad.

<div>Her treatment is now taking place in Mexico City at Clínica Atrys, a medical center that specializes in providing high-quality, accessible cancer treatment to patients around the world, and it has already begun.
</div>

</div>
<div>We will be raising a total of <strong>$100,000 USD</strong> –broken down in smaller goals as the treatment plan progresses– in order to cover almost the full course of her medications, surgery, and radiation therapy. The rest will be covered by our savings.

<div><strong>Treatment plan and why help is needed now</strong>
</div>

</div>
<div>Her treatment is divided into three stages, the first of which is both urgent and financially demanding:
</div>

</div>
<div><strong>Stage 1: Systemic treatment (chemotherapy + targeted therapy)</strong>
</div>
<div>She must receive<strong> <em>Trastuzumab</em> (Herceptin)</strong> and <strong><em>Pertuzumab</em> (Perjeta)</strong> every 21 days for 18 cycles (roughly one full year). Each cycle costs approximately from <strong>$6,500 USD to $8,000 USD </strong>, and this is <strong>where the greatest and most immediate financial need lies</strong>.

<div><strong>Stage 2: Surgery</strong>
</div>
<div>After completing the initial treatment phase, she will require surgery, with an estimated cost of <strong>$6,500 USD</strong>.

<div><strong>Stage 3: Radiation therapy</strong>
</div>
<div>The final stage of treatment will be radiation therapy, estimated at <strong>$5,000 USD</strong>.
</div>

<div>These treatments are medically necessary and time-sensitive. Unfortunately, we are facing this <strong>without insurance or government assistance</strong>, and the medications required for HER2-positive cancer are among the most expensive available.
</div>

<div><strong>Why we are asking for help</strong>
</div>

<div>I never imagined I would be writing something like this. My mother’s diagnosis came at a time when our family was already stretched thin by circumstances beyond our control.

<div>We are Venezuelan, and for years our family has been affected by ongoing political and economic collapse. Extreme inflation has erased savings, and continued instability has made remotely impossible for extended family members to help financially. Much of our family’s focus has been on simply helping our young ones find safety and education abroad.

<div>Now, with my mother facing cancer, the reality is clear: <strong>we cannot do this alone.</strong>

<div>Asking for help is not easy, but treatment cannot wait. Every contribution—large or small—directly supports her medical care and gives her the chance to focus on healing instead of survival.

<div>While this diagnosis is serious, HER2-positive breast cancer is highly treatable when patients have access to the full course of care. With timely and complete treatment, my mother’s medical team has shared that her chances of overcoming this disease are very strong—over 80%.
