Support a Single Mother Fleeing DV

It’s been nearly 3 weeks since our community member was involved in a dramatic domestic violent incident - one of many with her partner.  She left without access to several important valuable belongings. Our community worked swiftly to get her to safety and has continued to support her with mutual aid. However, the items left behind are vital to her job and livelihood. We aim to keep the survivor's identity anonymous for safety reasons but will post receipts for transparency. 



We are looking for funds to replace her missing belongings and to keep her sheltered. This includes video and music gear along with motel rooms, a plane ticket, and hospital bills.



We're hoping to acquire these items in the next few weeks to support her before she leaves the state. We know this is a quick turnaround and a big ask, but the faster we can get these funds, the quicker our community member can get to safety. 



This ask is more than supporting just one person - it is restorative justice. This is our chance to show that we truly can move without involving the system. Supporting this woman shows that survivors can come forward to be heard safely while knowing that we will fight for them. Helping this survivor get security and safety is proof that we do not need to call the cops for protection, because we take care of each other - that’s what it means to be in a community.



We understand the discomfort it brings to give money without being certain of who it is going to. And we hope you'll challenge that internal monologue that feels they need to know, or that knowing will make a difference. Everyone deserves access to safety and the opportunity to build a new life. Should the situation arise that the survivor does end up getting their belongings back, donations will be returned or given to Bradley Angle.
