On March 28, 2026, at the age of 33, I encountered one of my most significant challenges when I suffered a massive stroke while hospitalized for pneumonia. This life-altering event resulted in a brain bleed and swelling in my brain, leaving me with a long road to recovery. As a single mother of four precious children, aged 13 to 4, my world was turned upside down. Having been their full-time caregiver since birth, I take immense pride in being their rock, and they are my greatest blessings and motivation. Despite battling lupus-related health issues over the past few years, nothing could have prepared me for the severity of this stroke. I’m now facing deficits that I’m determined to overcome.
While it’s difficult to ask for help, I’m reaching out for support for myself and my family as we navigate this uncertain journey. I’m grateful to be alive, thanks to the medical care I received in the hospital, and I’m thankful for each day I get to spend with my children. In this challenging time, I need the love, prayers, encouragement, and resources of those who care about me. Taking this first step towards seeking help is something I’m proud of, knowing that every small victory counts. Holding my babies close is my greatest joy, just as my mom has always done for me. Every obstacle ahead will be faced head-on, and I’ll continue to hold my babies.
