<div>My name is Karie and I am seeking help for my children. I was a victim, and now survivor, of over a decade of abuse physically, emotionally, sexually, financially, and mentally from the father of my children. The past year has been hell, but there is light at the end of the tunnel! My children’s father has a permanent restraining order for life, and he violated that order, so is now serving 9 months in jail. While he is away, my children finally get their voice heard in court through a Guardian Ad Litem, which is wonderful. They saw and witnessed so much, more than any child ever should. However, in the state of Florida, I don’t qualify for a free one (thank goodness and I am grateful I can provide my children) and the legal expenses are adding up significantly to where I’m not able to afford the extra cost.

<div><strong>The Guardian Ad Litem is $3000 plus $300 per hour after that.</strong> I have already spent $25,000 in legal fees to protect my children this past year including emergency shelter, monthly bills, attorney fees, and mediation fees. I have not been able to work fully due to many days in the courtroom fighting for myself and children.

<div><strong>I’m hopeful, that by December 2024, I will have won full custody under Greyson’s Law of my children as well as be able to move away, starting a new life, elsewhere away from this stress and madness. Any help is appreciated and I am forever grateful for your support.</strong>

<div>If I am able to raise a substantial amount over my goal, I will be donating it to the AVDA shelter to help another family escape and get on their feet.  The resources for starting over are so minimal, any amount could help another survivor
