Last Thursday, one of our beloved Better Waverly families experienced a fire in their home. Everyone got out safely, but they are in urgent need of money, non-perishable food, and new/gently used essential items.
For the rest of November, Red Emma’s Coffeeshop & Bookstore will accept shelf stable/non-perishable food and juice in bags labeled “Jones Family.” Please check their website and/or socials for holiday closings and drop off what you can during open hours to their Free School room. You can also donate gift cards, toiletries, and other essentials.
More urgently, we want to help them pay for their temporary shelter, fresh food, and other unique expenses that come along with a tragic event like this, so we are asking our community to donate to this fundraiser and to share this link widely.
A fire in the home takes more than just a financial toll. It’s an extremely stressful event. Let’s help ease their overall burden this holiday season by giving what we can to this grandmother and her grandkids.
This fundraiser is being organized by their neighbors and the Better Waverly Community Organization. Any and all money donated will go directly to the family, less any fees collected by the fundraising website.
