<div>update  7/7/25: 2 days before my surgery, and my short term disability has been denied. I will not be receiving any pay until October. I am devastated and scared for what this means for my little family. I know I shouldn’t be supporting my kids by myself, but I have been for a long time now. I’ve been trying to better my situation behind the scenes, but life keeps throwing hurdles at me and I can’t catch up. Please help me get my story out there.

<div>On my birthday this year, I had a life-changing accident. I fell down a flight of stairs and dislocated/broke my knee and tore my MPFL. After multiple doctor's visits and tests, it’s been determined that <strong>I need major surgery</strong>.

<div>I’ve had trouble with my joints, especially my right knee, my entire life. I have a connective tissue disorder and deformities of my tibia and shin, which cause patellar instability and maltracking. The procedures I’m having are called a tibial tubercle osteotomy and MPFL reconstruction. My surgeon anticipates more work will be needed, but he cannot confirm this until he’s actually operating.

<div>The surgery and recovery are brutal and long. I will be out of work for months because of this procedure. <strong>I won’t be fully functioning until close to a year post-op and will require vigorous physical therapy.</strong>

<div>I am a mother to 3 beautiful children, one of whom is special needs. <strong>I am the sole provider for my kids and work 6-7 days a week to make sure the lights stay on and to keep food in the cupboards.</strong> We are drowning financially without the absolute mountain of medical bills I am now racking up. I need this surgery to regain function of my leg but will be losing so much of my paycheck and all of the overtime I make to support my family.
