My name is Kari, and I’m a 43-year-old wife, mother, and lifelong caregiver. For more than 20 years, I dedicated my life to serving individuals with physical and developmental disabilities—caring for others was not just my career, it was my calling.

But now, I’m the one in need of help.

This past June, I was diagnosed with carcinoid lung cancer, an invasive pulmonary aspergillus infection, and gastroparesis. Over the past two years, I’ve endured countless hospital stays, painful treatments, and the heartbreaking reality of relying on oxygen 24/7 just to breathe.

The hardest part is not just the illness—it’s losing the ability to work and provide for my family the way I once did.

The Challenge We Face

I travel to appointments 1–3 times per week, often hours away, costing more than $100/week in gas.

Our only family vehicle now needs urgent repairs—new tires and brakes, a tune-up, and a windshield—to keep us safely on the road.

As a low-income family with just one vehicle, every added expense feels overwhelming.
