Despite his chronic illness, grief from losing our brother in 2016, and ongoing hardship, our dad continued working tirelessly as a self-employed contractor, without the safety net of insurance or benefits.

<div>His stroke was the result of years of compounded health challenges: unmanaged diabetes, malnutrition, trauma, and stress. Now, he’s facing a difficult recovery—unable to speak clearly, eat, or move on his own. He’s undergone surgery for a feeding tube and struggles with respiratory issues, all while needing intensive rehabilitation and long-term medical care.

<div>Javier, nuestro pilar, ha vivido durante años con una diabetes severa, una condición que se ha agravado debido al acceso limitado a atención médica constante. A pesar de su enfermedad crónica, el profundo dolor por la pérdida de nuestro hermano en 2016, y de muchas dificultades, nuestro papá siguió trabajando incansablemente como contratista independiente, sin el respaldo de un seguro ni beneficios.

<div>Su derrame cerebral fue el resultado de años de complicaciones acumuladas de salud: diabetes, problemas cardíacos, duelo, trauma y estrés. Ahora enfrenta una recuperación difícil: no puede hablar con claridad, comer, ni moverse por sí mismo. Ha tenido que someterse a una cirugía para colocarle una sonda gastrica para alimentarlo y también enfrenta problemas respiratorios, todo mientras necesita rehabilitación intensiva y atención médica a largo plazo.

<div>Aunque estamos agotando todos los recursos posibles a través del Estado, el Condado y distintas organizaciones, hoy recurrimos a nuestra comunidad: familia, amigos y personas solidarias, para pedir ayuda con los gastos de vida, medicamentos, equipos médicos, métodos especiales de alimentación, entre otros. Cualquier contribución, sin importar el monto, realmente marcará una diferencia. Y si en este momento no puedes donar, compartir esta causa también nos ayudaría muchísimo.
