Support a First Year Special Education Teacher
Donation protected
Hello and welcome! Some of you will already know that I have been working in education for three years now. I spent one year as a para-educator, and two years as a site-based whole school substitute. This upcoming school year (24-25) will be my first year as a middle school classroom teacher. I will be teaching a Special Day Class, or Self-Contained Placement, and my population of students will have moderate to extensive needs. Most of my students have severe or profound autism. We are so lucky to have a large classroom that includes a full kitchen and a washer and dryer! This will be utilized heavily for our independent living skills, or life-skills, curriculum.
Any and all funds raised here will go towards buying things for my classroom. While we are lucky to have a large space and the equipment for life-skills curriculum, costs for things like: food for students to cook with, laundry soap, dish soap, sponges etc will all be ongoing. I will also be using funds generated here to develop different areas of my classroom to suit the various needs of my students as I get to know them throughout the school year. We spend nearly as many waking hours at school/work as we do at home, and I have big dreams of creating a classroom that feels comfortable, safe and functional for my students and my support staff.
I have also created an Amazon wish list for those who would prefer to buy a specific item rather than donate.
Thank you so much for your time and your support, it really means so much to me and the students I have the pleasure to serve.
