My family and I got into a bad car accident about 6 months ago. Luckily no one was injured, but our vehicle was totaled, and we have not been able to replace it due to my husband being unable to work, and my income getting tighter and tighter until I finally recently just lost my job completely. I am currently 32 weeks pregnant, our daughter just turned 1, and my husband is completely blind— 6 years ago he lost both of his eyes in an accident, leaving him deeply disabled. He gets monthly disability, but it is not enough for our family to live on.
We have experienced many hardships over the past 6 months: we went from being homeless and unable to find affordable housing in Florida, finding out I was unexpectedly pregnant again during that time, losing our vehicle, moving cross country to Arizona to find affordable housing, and now me losing my remote job of 13 years at a time where I am totally unable to find a new one and resume working. We were luckily able to get a loan from a family member that will allow us to pay our rent for the next two months and break our lease legally so we do not end up getting evicted. After that, we have plans to leave Arizona (where we have no friends, family or real support) and go back to Florida to move in with family as soon as our new baby is born. I am due on October 5th.
We plan to start working again by selling home made food at the farmers market, but to do this we will absolutely need a new (to us) car. Our goal is to raise $10,000 to buy a reliable used vehicle so we can get back on our feet and support ourselves and our children.
Donations of any size are incredibly helpful and we are thankful for any contribution you are able to make toward helping us rebuild our lives. Things are slowly getting better, but we need a little help to get back on our feet fully. If you are unable to donate, sharing this post would also help and would be deeply appreciated by our family.
