Support a Child's Recovery After Bus Stop Accident
Donation protected
On august 23rd, I got told what no parent wants to hear: something happened at the bus stop. My son had been hit by a car that was leaving the bus stop. After being airlifted to the closest trauma unit hospital he was then transported to Golisano, our local children’s hospital. He had surgery for a fractured femur later that day. He now has a titanium rod and is slowly recovering. He also has numerous road rash scrapes across his knees, shoulder and lower back and is generally sore all over. He’s pretty shaken and scared any time he has pain and is generally having a hard time adjusting. He’s expressed concern about going back to school, so this along with the physical therapy is a long road to recovery ahead of us.
He is currently recovering at grandmas as we are helping prep for his return. Prior to the accident his baby sister was born 8 days before. In addition to needing help with his mounting medical bills and future medical and mental health bills that will be coming as the road to recovery will be lengthy, modifications are needed in the bathroom to help accommodate him, as there were prior issues that due to time and everything never had the chance to get to, and we need to purchase a van to accommodate his needs to get him to all his multiple doctors appointments and therapies and we do not currently have a vehicle that can be safely and comfortably work for him due to his accessibility limitations. Any help for our family at all to help my son is greatly appreciated as we want to do everything in our power to make his recovery go as smoothly as possible.Thank you all for your support during this challenging time and showing that it indeed does take a village to raise a child
